What exactly SZ120 do you have? On SonyStyle Canada It says that I bought 120 PB

Though my notebook says 120 P on the border of the screen bottom left....what does yours say?

    Thanks

I seem to recall that P/C means Premium with a Carbon case, and P/B means Premium with a Black Case (not Carbon).

First, technically only P means Premium? SZ120 isnt premium....

Secondly if im supposed to have a /B or /C having none written on the notebook means that I have no case :p

ok now im just acting weird...though I would like someone to answer "If P means Premium? SZ120 isnt premium...."

    got it

p.s - doenst P mean Windows XP Professional?

maybe sony considers the whole line of SZ premium notebooks. If you compare the Base SZ to any other companys notebooks it would be premium.

Mine says SZ120P on the screen bezel, but it said SZ120P/B when I ordered it. It also says SZ120P/B on the box, looking at it right now. Meh, who really knows?

P.S. - I've also heard it said that the "P" stands for Pro, as in XP Professional. It all seems pretty convoluted.

I read in another thread that the P/B meant it was sold by a big chain company/distributor like best buy, circuit city, etc. I don't think it menas anything to the consumer. Mine says 120P altho the box says 120P/B. I bought mine at Circuit city.....Not sure of any specifics if this is true

but that wouldnt explain the 110 with home edition.

i say we just say the hell with it. we have what we have and even the newer SZ are just higher spec'd with no sustantial upgrades.

True, but with the way we are in these forums. There would be alot of guys having sleepless night brainstorming about what the letters stand for lol.

I was on the verge and had to slap myself.

Guys, there is no 110P/B - there's only a 110/B, which means it was sold through Sony's business channel to retailers and online stores, not directly to the consumer (i.e., you couldn't buy it direct from SonyStyle.com). The P is for Professional, and the B indicates the business channel availability. Hope this helps!

The C indicates the carbon lid cover for the Premium series SZ's. I notice they have several new revisions out now, like /D, /X, and those were not released when I last inquired about the nomenclature (over 2 months ago!).
