Hi All, I'm looking at getting rid of my Toshiba 17" (P25) laptop and just can't go back to < 17".

The problems with the Toshiba are:

1: The display is pretty bad in bright areas.

2: The thing runs hot, it seems that with each microsoft patch it just runs hotter. The task manager doesn't show any activity but just about anything makes the fan kick on.

So I'm leaning towards the A690 but am wondering if anyone has spent anytime with the notebook on their lap? (blocking any openings on the bottom) How hot does it get?

My 2nd choice would be the Dell 9300 but let's get this out of the way first..

    thanks,
    bob

I use mine on my lap and place it on my bed hours at a time. It never gets hot.
