I recently just got this laptop.
Like many i'm not pleased with the lack of software included for it's price.
But i found a way to solve the stupid flimsy battery case problem.
Simply use a piece of paper and folder it a few times so that the battery fits snuggly. Yes it's quite simple, but hey, it works. I like the battery life, but one thing concerns me, it's supposed tp be 80 gigs right? so i should have atleast 78 gigs or so? right? then how come i only have like 69 gigs??

What kind of software were your looking for? Probably more like 75-76GB. There is probably a hidden recovery partition somewhere on it.

Take it like this 5gb for 1000->1024 format "differences" I call it c**p by HD makers, and take 5 for the hidden recovery partition

:decision: I've been reading the posts on the Vaio S460. I've been checking out all of the sites and have pretty much decided to purchase one. I currently use a Vaio Z1VAP. I'm asking if I should go ahead and purchase one. COMPUSA has the 460P with $350 worth of rebate for $1549.99. Does this sound ok. Tell me what you think. Thanks.

Go ahead and get the sony S you need to upgrade once in awhile, but i'm pretty sure you won't be disapointed with this laptop. It has plenty of power for its size and trust me the graphic card is pretty good.

revbush, i was very skeptical before i bought the s460. but after having it for a few weeks, i'm very happy with my purchase. go for it, you won't regret it

I just returned home and am getting ready to put the gig memory in it. I haven't even turned it on yet. I'm anxious to tweak it as you say. Thanks for the quick response.

i just barely got mine today. excellent performance and very fast for a notebook at this size and weight. only few problems, like most people is the weak software and the loose battery. also this think heats up like a motherfu...

Ok the heat is really concerning me.... i've tried many ways to lower it it runs at 50 degrees even when i'm doing nothing... wtf?! but i've gotten it down to 25 degrees but i had to use those (ice packs for fever) undermy laptop and a huge ass fan blowing it (ones that you use to blow yourself during summer which is like 1000x cpu fans) but the HEAT..... the heat is so annoying!!!!

yeah, this is a great laptop but I might return it because of the excessive heat that it produces. I was actually going to a buy a clearanced T250 for $1399 but someone got it before I did.

I'm not sure that 50 degrees C is a big deal from a heat stand point for the processor. According to Intel's documentation for the Pentium M "Regardless of enabling the automatic or on-demand modes, in the event of a catastrophic cooling failure, the processor will automatically shut down when the silicon has reached a temperature of approximately 125 °C."
Without undervolting, my laptop hovered around 56-62 degrees C. Undervolting with RMClock it is staying at a steady 51 degrees C, and you can hardly hear the fan.
