I got a great deal on my FZ290 ($800) for Xmas. I am very pleased with it except for the battery life. Because I use wireless and have the Nvidia card, I only manage to get 1.5 hours most of the time. The laptop is already heavy and I don’t want to carry the huge AC adapter with me. I would get an extra battery, but at $200 (25% of my purchase price), it’s hardly justified. Do any of you know a light weight AC adapter for the FZ290 that’s around $100 or less?
    Thanks for you help.

More than $100, but this is the ticket: http://us.kensington.com/html/13874.html

You can't appreciate how small and light it is until you see it in person. The only disadvantage is that the plug at the laptop end is kinda bulky. I also bought a tip for my cell phone, so I don't have to carry that charger around.

Thanks LoL Rick. I actually found a really good deal on refurbished one of these with the sony tips:

I don't know what the exact difference is between this one and the newer one you mention, as they both say model number 33197.

The difference seems to be that the one in my link has this: "Includes a USB SmartTip® to power and charge USB compatible mobile devices, including iPod, mobile or smartphones, and PDAs for the adapter"

That seems like something they'd sell for about $10.

I don't think that the extended battery is doing to a magic. Even this has a 2-5hr battery life.
