I have a Sony VAIO Laptop (SVE15136CN). It has an AMD Radeon 7550/7650M HD Graphic Card. I have Windows 7 x64. In my Catalyst Control Centre I see the following information regarding my currently installed drivers :-
Driver Packaging Version - 8.932.5.7-120209a-134725C-Sony
Catalyst Version - 12.6
2D Driver Version - 8.01.01.1223
Direct3D Version - 7.14.10.0889
OpenGL Version - 6.14.10.11411
Catalyst Control Center Version - 2012.0209.2326.41882
Obviously, these drivers are seriously outdated. This causes me to have poor performance in all the latest games and updating my drivers is really important.
I downloaded and installed the latest drivers (ver. 13.12). It installed AMD Catalyst Install Manager along with an HDMI Driver. The patch notes on the website state that the package contains Catalyst Control Centre and Drivers but ALL it installed on my system was the Catalyst Install Manager, and no driver. After a restart my resolution was reverted to 1280x768 (previously it was 1366x768). Then, I had to reinstall the driver that was provided by the seller (which is 2-3 years old, and which is the one I am having now).
Please help me upgrade my drivers to the latest possible version.
Thanks in advance.
* This laptop came with Windows 8, which I removed and replaced with Windows 7 x64 (as I found Win 8 wasn't that great for gaming). I read somewhere that latest drivers are not compatible with Sony laptops. How can I use my GPU properly without the latest drivers?! I am willing to bypass/remove/delete any security protocol/software necessary, but I really need to install new drivers as I simply cannot do without them. I don't care about voiding guarantee/warranty. I just need to install the latest drivers in any way possible.
