I have a Vaio VGN-AR109G with XP Media Center and immediately following the XP logo at boot the video disappears into blackness not to reappear but the hard drive continues to function as the HDD light is still active. I recovered the 2 hard drives which are configured in RAID 0 having 183Gb and 7Gb recovery partition with the factory recovery disks. The total recovery was slow but without errors. XP is functioning in safe mode and VGA mode but when I attempt to raise the resolution it goes black and cannot be recovered. Inversely my Mini XP rescue disk displays great resolution up to 1280x800 and above. I have installed all updates and drivers from BIOS to video card etc. without success. This computer has a Nvidia GeForce go 7600GT video card with 256Mb memory. But it for whatever reason it does not seem to be working with Windows Media Center. What is this dilemma? I also got a message when attempting to do some of the recovery from inside safe mode that "This is not recognized as a VAIO computer". That is probably the most telling sign but I do not know how to address it.
