I've read some posts about these two cards and am still a bit confused. I've heard that the S360 seems a bit dimmer than the S460. Can that be attributed to the difference in these two cards? If not, what else could it be? I'm thinking of taking advantage of the midnight CompUSA sale and purchasing a S460 then customizing it to have the brightness of the S360. Any advice on what I need to accomplish this would be very helpful. I am mainly trying to figure out why the S460/480's screen looks so dim and how I can fix it. Thanks!

The video card has nothing to do with the brightness of the display. That's one thing you can't impact at all.

I was going to start a new thread for this. but it seems apporpriate here.

This question is along the same line... kind of a newbie question though... do the video cards effect Multi Media performance... like DVD's or Shockwaves on the internet? I am almost for certain there just for enhancing gaming performance. When im customizing my S480 im always debating whether to put in the graphics card or not. Since I dont plan on playing any games but I do plan on watching DVD's and surfing the web with macromedia, flash, java, shockwave etc.

So ultimatly the question is should i go with or without a Graphics card.

No, it will only impact gaming and applications of that nature. For web, email, etc, a dedicated card is of zero benefit.

I have heard stories that there is some brightness difference between the older S and newer S. I think it is mostly due to either a supplier shift or a different batch of LCD. Some other cases will probably be the brightness setting is not set at the same level. It has nothing to do with the video card.

Personally, I have not notice any noticeable difference when I do window shopping in retailers.
