    to all the 260p/c owners. how is the notebook treating you? did any of you guys do the semi-restore? if so, is it better then how u first recieved it? last but not least any sony vaio owners in the USA specifically in Cali?

    i recommend you do the semi-clean install. its very easy and performace will be better.

    I think I fit all the above requirements. After the semi clean install + shutting off various programs my computer is performing much faster. It definitely treats me well, I just havent figured out how to use the camera as a webcam yet

    hmm... so for the clean install, i just need to make a recovery disc and follow the steps posted from blackg35? or is there more to it?

    theres some stuff you gotta do after thats purely optional. I mainly just got rid of a couple start up's I didn't need that applied to programs I was using. I can't say what will happen for you but after the semiclean restore there isn't much to do

    quick question if i were to remove it manually through the add/remove program feature. will it be the same as the semi install or not even close?

    Not even close. You'll never be able to remove the Norton crap completely, that ******** burries itself so deep into the system only a clean install will cure the system.

    k i will do the semi clean install. if i use 9 cd's rather then 2 cds is there a difference?

    It's 9 CDs or 2 DVD's. No difference.

    BTW, I'm in Cali and have a SZ.

    Hey, Private Cowboy, it looks like the admins removed the wordfilter, eh? :p
    Are you sure it buries itself that deep?
    Uninstall, delete directories, clean registry... those don't work?

    so i removed norton, sonicgate, roxio, dvdgate, & jeopardy. is there any more nonsense stuff i dont need? another thing how about all those vaio crap thats not needed also? well besides the utility fingerprint, etc...
