to all the 260p/c owners. how is the notebook treating you? did any of you guys do the semi-restore? if so, is it better then how u first recieved it? last but not least any sony vaio owners in the USA specifically in Cali?

i recommend you do the semi-clean install. its very easy and performace will be better.
-
A lot of people here are from the United States...
Do a clean install. -
I think I fit all the above requirements. After the semi clean install + shutting off various programs my computer is performing much faster. It definitely treats me well, I just havent figured out how to use the camera as a webcam yet
-
hmm... so for the clean install, i just need to make a recovery disc and follow the steps posted from blackg35? or is there more to it?
-
theres some stuff you gotta do after thats purely optional. I mainly just got rid of a couple start up's I didn't need that applied to programs I was using. I can't say what will happen for you but after the semiclean restore there isn't much to do
-
hmmm thanks. ill look forward to teh semi clean install this weekend -
quick question if i were to remove it manually through the add/remove program feature. will it be the same as the semi install or not even close?
-
Private-Cowboy Notebook Consultant
Not even close. You'll never be able to remove the Norton crap completely, that ******** burries itself so deep into the system only a clean install will cure the system.
-
k i will do the semi clean install. if i use 9 cd's rather then 2 cds is there a difference?
-
It's 9 CDs or 2 DVD's. No difference.
BTW, I'm in Cali and have a SZ.
Cheers. -
Hey, Private Cowboy, it looks like the admins removed the wordfilter, eh?
Are you sure it buries itself that deep?
Uninstall, delete directories, clean registry... those don't work? -
