    so i went into bestbuy over the weekend in toronto and had a look at the fe & the new compaq's (since these are my two options). i have to admit it, with all the negative feedback on the net about sony's build quailty , i think sony's have a more solid feel to them than these new compaq v2000 & v6000's. The plastic used on the new compaqs is the worste ive seen on any electronics in a long time plus the glossy finish was not doing it for me. :D

    Sonys are generally buit very well. Just their customer support is terrible which gives a bad label to the whole product line. BTW if you are getting a fe, make sure you get the one with the 7600go. It is a lot more powerful than the 7400go.

    yup , infact the only option on sonystyle.com is the 7600.

    It's build quality is higher than average. Rigid construction but poor paint finish on quick-launch buttons pretty much sums it up.
