I have a Sony SZ 270, when in less than a year, the battery dead. It can be charged. Since in warranty, sony give me a new one.

A year passed, that new battery dead again same way. Can't be charged. What a bad quality on SZ's battery!

Had the same problem. My first BP2SC SZ battery stopped working after about 10 months, and it got replaced under warranty. The 2nd battery is still working now, one year later, but it has started to lose a lot of capacity (I estimate, its at about 70% of its original capacity).

I decided to try out one of those '3rd party' made-in-China batteries, got the high capacity one. It was pretty cheap, and even came with a 6-month warranty, so I thought I might as well give it a try... I am not going to pay a premium for original Sony batteries if they crap out after a year.

The '3rd party' battery's been working fine so far (about 2 months), and I'm really loving the longer lifespan of the extended battery.

Using compatible batteries can be a hit and miss... you may get a good one but there are lots of horror stories out there about crappy ones and even dangerous ones... (exploding/catching fire?)... so try at your own risk!

Mine is a BPL2 compatible one rated at 7200mAh. I don't know the brand of the battery, only that the cells are made in China. I bought it retail from a small shop in Bangkok, that's why it has a warranty (warranty for the BPS2 is 1 year, BPL2 is 6 months, but the price is the same for both, about USD100).

The battery status for mine says:
    Designed capacity: 79920 mWh
    Charged capacity: 77270 mWh

I would have been a bit more hesitant to buy it online if there is no return policy though.
