Accessing the recovery partition in Windows 7

    Hey folks --

So, my upgrade to Windows 7 has been great on my SZ780, except for this one issue of the computer randomly turning off every couple of days (the error is a loss of kernal power -- if you want more details, I'm happy to provide). I haven't been able to solve the issue, and thus think I need to re-migrate back to Vista, less I lose power at an inopportune time --- like mid-sentence when writing, which just happened a few moments ago.

Problem is, I can't seem to access my recovery partition during start-up, like I'm supposed to be able to. The VAIO logo appears, but hitting F10, shift-F10, or alt-F10 isn't doing anything. Moreover, my restoration disks are corrupt, so those don't work either.

Any ideas? I really like Windows 7 and would like to stay here, but I can't afford to keep having this on-going power loss problem.

    Thanks much,
    ben
