    Hi All,

First of all, let me just say that the posts here are very informative. Definitely a good bunch of people here!

After much research, I have narrowed my choice of laptop between the Sony VAIO FE550G Notebook and Aspire 5672WLMi Notebook. I plan to make the purchase at COMPUSA, so please keep their configuration in mind when replying.

I'm not really asking for feature comparison between the 2 laptops. As Acer obviously have the upper hand with Bluetooth, 5 in 1 card reader, 2GB of RAM, 120GB HDD, and the ATI x1400. And I plan to do a fresh install of XP Pro so the difference in OS & Blogware is negligible. Gaming performance is not a deciding factor, nor is battery life of particular importance to me.

The opinion I'm seeking is which laptop provides a better ownership experience. In terms of ergonomics, display quality and ease of long term readability, chassis flex, build quality, customer support, warranty (especially Dead Pixel policy), & that hard to gauge "X" factor.

Oh, and if anyone with some inside knowledge knows when the $150 rebate will be offered at COMPUSA again, I'd really appreciate it.

Note. I also posted the same thread in the Acer Forum, just to get views from both sides.

I looked up to these two same exact models. But I went with VAIO FE550G just because of the name brand. I visited the store COMPUSA several times and couldnot decide.

But one day I went there with my mind setup to buy the Acer because of the more features that you have mentioned. I had my mind set that I will not buy the protection plan that they offer, coz several of my freinds that had purchased that lot of problem with the replacement plan and it dosenot work as they say it would.

When the sale rep told me that if I am going for Acer it a smart idea to buy the protection plan because of the parts not being available easily. So had I purchased the Acer with the plan I would have paid almost the same amount that I would pay for the VAIO. So I decided to go with the VAIO for the name and almost the same specs.

But the screen quality is definately better in VAIO.

If you are not a gamer I'd definately go with the VAIO.

And the $150 rebate is already over I guess.
