I just wanted to know if it was possible to add another HDD to my vaio fw21e. I dont mean replace the current one, but have 2 hard drives. I heard that some laptops have the space for it. I was considering using an SSD for the OS and program files, and use the current HDD for my files.

Edit: Oh i forgot to ask as well, but can i add more ram to my laptop as well? It currently has 4 gigs istalled

The 200 series and beyond came with 64 bit OS (for the most part) and allowed up to a max of 8 GB of ram.
Can't comment on the hard drive, but from photos of the inside of the FW (in the owner's thread) there's not much room left in there. One of the last posts in the Sony's FW owner lounge if from someone who swapped out the CD drive for another hard drive. Might have some insights.

To have 2 HDDs you need 2 drive bays - as far as I am aware the FW doesn't offer this option.

If you replace your CD drive with a HDD then you need a caddy for it...

Im running windows 7 64 bit so can i install a further 4 gb ram? I know that technically speaking a 64 bit OS should be able to use 8gig but my question is whether there is the extra slot in my model.

Yes i read about swapping out the cd drive but i dont think its worth it.

It possibly has 2 "slots" - so you'd need to replace the existing module(s).

The Z needed very energy efficient RAM modules to go beyond 4GB on the "older" models - read around about yours to make sure it'll work.
