In Europe this was the cheapest model from Z series i couldn't effort to buy buy one with SSD but it's ok this i can add later :p
The problem is for this one that i am very confused because in all specifications i had found that it has backlid keyboard but mine i didn't managed to make it work and i have the sensor for this so i send a message to sony and told me that it doesn't have one,I'm sorry that i've buyed this model and didn't wait for one with backlid but i was fooled by the specifications on the site and from the internet..I realy wish to have one with backlid :(

Can't you return it? All Z have the ambient sensor regardless if it's backlit or not. The ambient sensor also controls the auto screen dimming which no one ever uses.

You might be able to add the backlit keyboard if you can find the part somewhere. It might be quite expensive to do that though. But if it bothers you that much, at least there's an option.

In the disassembly thread that is pinned at the top of this forum you'll find a service guide for two VPC Z models. You may find this helpful in finding what parts you may need for this mod.
You could import the parts possibly through sparepartswarehouse.com

I bought a Z12M9E thinking that it had a backlit keyboard...a lot of websites stated that it did. To my disappointment, it did not.

I'd like to know if that part is available too! Presumably you'd need both new keys and the backlights themselves?

Yes this i don't like it at all why it says it has if it doesn't? there are people who buys this things because it has this option. And it is not correct for the sellers to do this especially when you pay more then 1500$.But happens all the time! :(

In the US we have sparepartswarehouse.com, i'm not sure about the EU/UK though. Rachel might know.

note: most of these places get their wares from Sony too, so it might not be cheaper, unlike RAM, SSDs or ODD's which have aftermarket alternatives.
