    Hi everyone,
First time being here. I just got my CW290 and I am having something weird happening:
my aero disappeared after using the computer for a while. I can troubleshoot in the personalize menu on the control panel and it would work again. But it says to check if video card supports aero (and obviously it is b/c mine is Nvidia 310m). I called support and they only could do that much.
Also, when I try to run the re-assessment after this, it says it can't compute the video score.
If I restart the computer, it works perfect again.
Does anyone have have the same problem or suggested solution for me? all the drivers are up to date. I uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers and it was still the same.
    Thanks

Thanks for helping. That fixed my problem. It is just that it happens from time to time and it gets annoying.... I don't know if it's the driver problem or the graphic card problem....

If you use remote networking that can turn it off.

Also, while your card may support it, Windows relies on what the driver says it is, so if it's told its a generic Nvidia or something, it will not allow aero.

Aero is fickle, but it's less fickle on Win7 compared to Vista.

it shows on my display driver that it's an Nvidia 310m... that's why I find it quite wierd. I never had this problem with my previous computer which was a thinkpad t61. I suppose that it's becauuse of the drivers?

It sounds to me like the Nvidia driver stack keeps crashing, causing Windows to not recognize that the card is capable of Aero, then switching to Win7 basic themes. Try updating your video drivers to the latest ForceWare 196.86. They're 10x more stable than stock Sony drivers. I think Sony's philisophy is that if it works for the 10min lab test with no crashes or DPC latency issues, out the door it goes. Try this.

doesn't seem like a lot of people are having this problem....
I googled and someone having the same problem using T410 and they say it might be because of the 4GB of RAM 1 dimm...
people owning CW i5, can you let me know if you get the same problem?
    Thank you

That link at the end of my last post has links to the drivers for that card, and installation instructions.
