Hi
I just have a question regarding aftermarket upgrade of blue ray for Vaio Z series, did any one try upgrading with any aftermarket blue ray drive for Z series? If so what is the compatibility criteria and did anyone find one for Z series
I found a notebook blue ray rom for $79

but it is IDE interface I am not sure what interface is for Z series.
Thanks,

Hey this would be awesome if its possible. I have been also wondering about this some time.

1. Vaio Z dvd drive has a SATA interface.
2. The drive mentioned above doesn't fit Vaio Z. It's so called half inch/12.7mm slim drive. You need a super slim drive, which is 9.5mm height. There is, so far I know, one super slim Blueray drive on the market only. You can order it by Sony as a spare part ($1000] or you try your luck on ebay for $370 or less. -
Does anyone know if it would be possible to get one for the SR series? I'm assuming it's also a super slim drive, but it doesn't hurt to ask.

It's possible, SR uses the same drive as Z.

Thanks a lot for the info.
