I was having difficulty determining how to customize a sony laptop to have a matte screen on their website (I'm not a fan of glossy screens) so I called customer service and she said that every laptop ordered on their website has a matte screen. I was a little skeptical because when I've gone into Best Buy, 4 out of the 5 Sony laptops they have are glossy. She said Best Buy orders them to be glossy but that everything I would order online is matte. Not sure how much I believe her and I really don't want to order a laptop to find out its a glossy screen! Anyone here order a sony laptop through their website? Is it matte or glossy?

It depends on which laptop and which country. Different countries have different options. The US usually has the least or no options. Since you mentioned Best Buy, maybe you are in the US. Most of the new Vaios do have matte screens - for instance the F22 and F21 are matte, but the F1 series which are no longer configurable on Sony but are for sell at the outlet and are still in some stores are all glossy in the US.

The S series currently on Sonystyle has a glossy screen but with an anti-reflective coating (not an anti-glare coating). From Sony's website: "the S Series display features an anti-reflective glossy finish that delivers crisp, clear detail and vivid color while minimizing the glare typically associated with glossy finishes on LCDs."

But most current US Vaios have the anti-glare matte screen right now. You need to look at the specific model and the country you are buying in and cannot generalize about all Vaios having the same screen. In other countries you have a choice of screens.

Please be more specific stating which computers you're looking at. Some Sonys are glossy, some are semi matte, etc. It really depends on the model. For example my L All in One is a glossy glass screen while my Z is a semi matte. You don't have a choice to the finish on the screen, it's the same for any one particular model.
