I have a 23inch tv that i want to hook my sony SZ to and use it as an external monitor. I am really doing this so i can have an excuse to buy a nice new 1080p LCD tv for my PS3. This way i wouldent feel too bad about having a 23" that im using. Im not going to rush out and buy a new tv or anything but i want to use my tv as a computer monitor. The viao SZ dosnt have a DVI, it only has a VGA. So does that mean i am stuck using that or is there inexspensive adapter that would work. the sz also has a firewire ilink IEEE port but im not sure if my tv would exept that. My tv has vga, dvi and s-video just wondering if i could/should use an adaptor instead of vga to vga or if i had any other options?

VGA is analog, DVI is digital, so no, it won't convert that well(it will, just not very well).

also another option would be buying the $200 port replicator that has a dvi port. would that be worth buying instead of using vga-vga

The quality difference between DVI and VGA is not big enough to justify the acrobatics of buying a docking station or finding a converter, IMO.
