Just ordered a TX650 from Amazon and was surprised that they were giving a $200 rebate only on this particular TX model, lumping it with rebates for the (now) older T series. Also, while ordering, they said "hurry, only 5 left" and the link now says they have them on pre-order. My question is: could this by a "revision A" batch that Amazon was trying to get rid of, and once they roll out the TX series, those would be "revision B" (for instance with fixed fan noise problems etc)? Or am I just being paranoid. Apologies in advance if this was the wrong place to post this.

That could be possible or Amazon got a really good deal on these from Sony and wants to pass on some of the savings to you. I used to think that because Bestbuy and Circuitcity offer their own rebates all the time in addition to the manufacturer's rebates there was something wrong with their notebooks until I realized that they were trying to get more customers to come into their stores.

    Congrats on your TX purchase!

I considered Amazon as well when I wanted to purchase my TX. Their price was pretty high so with the rebate that brought it down to around 2099 which was very similiar to the price you could have gotten it anywhere else. Also this 650 seems to be the only one listed that can only be upgraded to 1GB Max memory. Not sure why. It may be a typo.

I ended up buying a 610TX for less than 1900 through Sony Style Business. I only needed a CD burner so this cheaper model was perfect for my needs. My TX will ship out this Friday! Can't wait :D
