Yes, all Z have DDR3 RAM. They're not compatible with DDR2.

Upgrading the RAM is easy. Panel on the bottom.

This isn't an issue. I have to order from Amazon.com anyways, the other sites don't take international credit cards.

How about the Z540 being CTO (even though the one above is not-configurable) on the Sony Style website versus the Japanese built other ones?

It is my impression that Z570 and Z590 has the DDR3 architecture, while the Z540 does not (Z540 has DDR2) (although they all have DDR3 module installed). This can be seen on Sony's website if you were to compare the three models. Is this a typo by Sony?

Amazon's product website in general reflects this, except the fact it says the Z591 has PC2-6400, which is the 800 Mhz DDR2 memory (not even 1066 MHz) - which is most definitely a typo.

So all the notebooks have the DDR3 memory installed for sure. However, which architecture actually supports DDR3 and which one uses DDR2 (the memory will just run at lower speed) can't be confirmed.

Like Philflow said I believe they are all DDR3 it must be a typo.

It's super easy to upgrade the RAM? Do you know what ram modules the Z has? I know that in Desktops, there is hardly a difference between DDR3 and DDR2(the cheaper, higher end modules), does this reflect on laptops as well?
