This turned out to be true. At least there are Samsung and Toshiba panels. As far as I know Toshiba is the good one.

Just out of curiosity, where can you find out who makes your LCD panel on your notebook.

As a secondary point, i find it pretty hilarious that samsung and toshiba make laptop screen panels, when for their own HDTV's they outsource for the majority of their lines..(excluding the very high end stuff). With that point in mind, Samsung is considered the superior brand in the market...regardless of outsource manufacturer. Don't get me wrong, a have an amazing 37 inch Toshiba HDTV( only 720P.. don't judge), but if money's no object...there seems to be a general concensus that sammy's are better than toshibas...

I have no idea. I tried Everest (had the full version for awhile now) and a couple of other software, but it would only return the generic LCD brand. I only know which panel I have because I got it replaced for repairs (my SR129E/B has a Toshiba panel).

Try PC Wizard 2008. At first it might seem that it doesn't state it but if you look deeper it will display the type and brand.
