I just got word from Dynamism that Sony has cancelled the Anniversay edition of the TZ, due to "battery supply problems" (these models are supposed to come bundled with three batteries).![]()
I find that kind of odd, don't you?![]()
-
kind of stupid if you ask me
the anniversary model is still on the sony japan site -
Well, they are specially painted in the purple color, so if they're having problems getting them done, it makes sense.
-
no reason to cancel it though.
-
Actually, it is. Part of the whole anniversary thing is the look. Stick a black, standard battery in there and it defeats the purpose of making it kinda look like a 505.
-
they should just delay it then, not cancel.
-
I don't think that Sony would have the same problem with "painting" as Dell had with its M1330, which was atrocious (I had one for a brief moment), do you?
-
By the pics, it looked like the casing itself was purple and metallic for the batteries, or that the plastic was purple - hard to tell. It didn't look like a normal paint job. So if Sony can't source that or get it right, no matter who the vendor, I kinda applaud Sony for not cheaping out and just giving black batteries.
-
There is a huge lithium ion cell shortage out there in the marketplace, and I expect that we'll see delays from other manufacturers here in the future due to this issue.
-
Guys, ordered a new TZ91 with spare standard battery
I recieved my order today, but with NO standard battery
Estmiated time that the battery will be ready - 3 months!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So the problem is a battery shortage - not colors etc... -
Yikes. Guess I'll put my order off for the new G ...
-
Wow, so it is true then!
Well, if everyone puts off their order like you, there will be no shortage soon!
-
R.I.P. Anniversary Edition, it's no more:

thats a nice shade of green, i wonder what it looks like in person, or an actual pic, not a product picture
what happened to blue? did they get rid of it? i always liked the blue tx, and the blue tz -
If its cancelled, then why is it still on Sonystyle Japan's site?
http://www.jp.sonystyle.com/Style-a/Special/T/505/index.html
There was never a blue TZ. The premium carbon color on the TX looked blue when looked at an angle, not so for the premium carbon on the TZ. -
oh ok, i just didnt read the specs carefully here
cuz on the US site it looks blue
-
Its inaccurate, thats their mistaken image for the "Premium Carbon" color, but it does not look blue at all. Ask the Premium Carbon TZ users. There is no blue TZ.
-
i know, i said it looks like it. ive seen pics of the premium carbon
-
I don't know. Can I order one through Conics? Shall I send an e-mail to them?
-
I has blue "streaks" running through it, so that's why it's pictured as blue.
-
I just received confirmation from Price Japan that the VAIO TZ 10th Anniversary Edition, honoring the T505, is indeed sold out.
So, if anyone sees one of these show up on eBay, please let me know, I would love to own one and given their rarity they will be, I'm sure, very hard to get.
-
Not a surprise - they only were making 505 of 'em.
-
Ha! That's great.
-
Looks like it wasn't cancelled at all as there's some auctions of it.

Those may be from the original 505 stock. Somehow I find it hard to believe that only that quantity was/is made in the first place...
-
No way they could have made only 505, its build-to-order just like the other TZ90s and TZ91s except some low-end features aren't available like the Celeron M processor.
You can see in both auctions that the specs of the machines are different because its customizable. -
Wow! Another nice find, Rahul!
But now I see that they look really purple inside, like blinding purple!
First one is only 100GB 1.8-inch drive (4200rpm) + DVD drive.
Second is 48GB SSD + DVD drive.
Neither appeal to me.
Anniversary TZ edition cancelled!
