What are people running for antivirus and spyware on their SZ? Looking for (obviously) something fast and good.

I'm using AVG, which seems to be working very well. It has gotten excellent reviews, and it's FREE, which doesn't hurt.

(Not on my SZ, cause I don't have an SZ, but I don't think it really matters which computer you're using, when choosing a virus protection program.

Also, check out Comodo Personal Firewall, also free and works great!

I also do not have a SZ, I have an asus s96j. However, I am using AVG and Comodo firewall too. For spyware, I would suggest the following.

    Spywareblaster
    - keeps spyware from installing on your computer. Install, update database, set to protect and that's it. (Need to update from time to time, uses no resources)

Adware and Spybot Search & Destroy
    - both of these are good programs that scans your computer for spyware and removes it. Both are free

    Ewido
    - In my opinion, the best antispyware program. (recently bought by grisoft). You can download the full trial version and after 30 days, you still have the free version with some features taken away.
    - It also scans your computer and removes spyware ( better than adware and spybot imo)
    - has real time protection that keeps spyware from installing on your computer. ( not sure if this is just for the full version/trial period)

    Snoopfree
    - install and just let is sit
    - it is an anti-keylogger program. It just runs all the time and just sits there and notifies you if anything is trying to hook your keyboard. (Also free)

    Hope this helps.

I am going to try Norton Corporate (already have a copy) and Windows Defender. We'll see..... However people seem to like AVG and with EWIDO probably nice combo.

I'm using Windows Live One Care. What I like about it is that it doesn't seem to slow down my SZ at all like Norton does.

    Anti-Virus: Avast Home Version (Free)
Avast is by far the best in terms of detection and speed, AVG is better for features. Since I only want the anti-virus to provide a resident shield and for scanning on demand, i use Avast.

Anti-Spyware: I use spywareblaster for the resident shield, and Spybot Search&Destroy for scanning on command. Ad-adaware is just as good. All are free.

My fav was Kaspersky, but that one isn't free. Now I use AVG and Spybot Search and Destroy. AVG doesn't seem to bog down the system. I haven't had a virus, trojan or spyware in seven years (that I know of).

I've used McAfee and Norton and they're OK but recently I've installed ZoneAlarm Internet Suite (Firewall, Anti-Virus, Anti-Spyware) and I must say it is an awesome All-in-One Solution (It even has an E-mail client plug in like Norton). I still run Spybot and Ad-aware once a week just to be safe....absolutely no problems (knock knock).

EDIT: Oh yeah, It's free if you know where to look :)

Did you have any issues with Kaspersky? I'm assuming not since it was your favorite. I'm trying to find a new AV program. I'm using NOD32 2.7 right now and it's creating some software conflicts with IE and MS Office. I think I'm gonna try Kaspersky...maybe a trial before I buy...since I don't want to buy another AV program and find out it messes up my system. Do you have an SZ also? I have an SZ160P.

Windows Live OneCare works great for me. It uses the same spyware engine as Windows Defender and it has what seems to be a very competent Antivirus. The key thing is that it doesn't repeatedly announce its presence with little notices and logos everywhere (Norton anyone?), it runs quickly and quietly, and it has almost no impact on boot time. It also does a little tune up every now and then (clearing out temp files, defragmenting etc). Still trying to work out if its free or not (trial period seems to keep getting longer, no shorter), but I would certainly pay for it when the trial is up.

I used F-Secure Antivirus for Workgroups along with Windows Defender on my last Vaio, wasn't a great solution though; F-Secure was a bit of a drain on the machine.

I use Avast for antivirus. Noticed a pretty good speed improvement over Norton corp. Using Windows Defender for spyware.

I use Norton Internet Security 2007. It is light, fast and very reliable unlike all the previous versions like 2006. I hated Norton 2006, but I fell in love with 2007. They are very different.

    denikin is right!
Dont waste ur time installing those crappy junky freebies.
Why install 10 different apps for the job of 1.
Norton Internet Security 2007 (Only $23) is truely
    SuperLight, SuperFast, SuperReliable & SuperSilent/Stealth.
You get absolutely no firewall notifications. Who beats that?!
If u google d reviews, NIS 'OO7' is currently d best out there.

NIS2006 owners can upgrade to NIS 'OO7' for free
provided your subscription aint over. The King is back!
