Any difference between the Z11 2.4 & 2.53 Core i5 other than clock speed?

    Hey,

I am going to purchase a most wonderful Sony Z. I can get the VPC-Z114GX model, with the 2.4GHz core i5 for about $500 cheaper than the VPC-Z11QGX/S model with the 2.53GHz core i5.

Is there any difference between the two models other than a slightly higher clock speed?

I know the more expensive model also has the 256GB SSD as opposed to the 192GB in the cheaper model, but the additional 153MHz and 64GB of extra space doesn't seem like it is worth the premium.

Just wanted to make sure there weren't any other significant differences before I made the purchase.

    Thanks!

133 MHz and 60 GB difference, actually.
But yes, there's another difference too.
    The 192 GB model is 3 * 60 GB in RAID 0.
The 256 GB model is either 2 * 120 GB in RAID 0, or 4 * 60 GB in RAID 0 (depending on where you are).

The advantage of more drives in a RAID is higher transfer speeds for large files.
The disadvantage is that the risk of failure goes up (when one drive in a RAID 0 fails, you lose all data on all drives).

I think that you would not be able to tell the difference in cpu speed. The 192GB will be triple raid. The 256GB is dual raid (in the US). So the 192GB will be faster at streaming than a u.s. spec 256GB.
