I'm looking to get a Sony Vaio Z series laptop but i'm not sure if i should go for one now or wait for a while to see if Sony update it for a new model soon.

How long has the Z Series been available for? Is there any news on the internet about a new model that will replace the Z Series soon?

Z has been available since.. around september, and has not too long ago gotten its first refresh, so just over half a year now.. it's basically as "new" as the macbook aluminum

both the TT and Z are the newest models released by sony

its successor, the SZ (and to some extent the TZ), was around for ~2.5 years before being replaced

given the current economy, model updates probably won't happen for a while

    so basically.. don't bother waiting

The Z will be around for a while. The next big upgrade for it will be probably be an Nvidia 100 or 200 series graphics card, then Intel Arrandale processors in Q1 of next year.
