At first I thought it was my table. But I've been on so many tables now that I know it's not the case. My Z doesn't sit level. The lower left corner is about 3 mm too high. I thought maybe it was bad rubber feet for a while but I'm running new feet now and it's the same.

mine is perfectly solid, you should have 2 long rubber feet side of battery. and 5 round rubber feet
-
Yep. Got all those. I think my case is just warped.
-
Mine's perfectly flat.

Achusaysblessyou eecs geek ftw :D
If you opened your Z before, maybe you should try tightening the screws more? (The body after the keyboard is removed is quite flimsy)
but yeah, i dont have that problem either -
If the problem appeared after you had opened it, maybe the bottom isn't seated properly. Try reseating it by loosening all the screws, then tighten each screw a little at a time until all are tight.

Thanks for the tips. It's been this way since it was new and I always chalked it up to uneven tables. I slip a couple of credit cards on the left side which evens it out.
I have opened it before but I think the screws are tight. I know what you mean about the case being flimsy once it's apart. But by looking along the case where the bottom meets up with the top, the spacing all around is the same. The case is definitely warped though. If I sight along the front edge of the laptop to the bottom of the battery in the back. I can easily see that the left side is warped up compared to the right. I'll wait until the next hinge tightening and I'll see if I can counter tweak the case to make it even. -
The front right corner of my Z122 sat a few mm above the table. I suppose it could have been like that out of the box. I chalked it up to my tendency to carry the Z by holding the front left corner. I switched to carrying it by the front right corner, and over time it seems to have bent that corner back down to where it's almost level again. The misalignment is only about half a mm now.
I have never taken apart my Z. -
I'd avoid holding my laptop with one hand, not only the mechanics are stressed due to the bending, much more significant stress is applied on the electronics. I know a lot of people having sturdy looking thinkpads but their motherboards have broken down due to flexing. PCB layers and BGA chip balls simply don't like mechanical stress and do break easily. I always pick up and carry around my laptops with both hands on each side of the laptop and I never ever had such a problem. My Z seems to be perfectly level on each surface it stood on yet.

My Z sits perfectly still in every one of my table at home. I've had a few cases where the right side does not sit still, but it's definitely the problem of the tables.
pyr0: By "holding a laptop with one hand", you're referring to holding the laptop when the lid is open right? I hold my Z one handed by the vent and tilt it 45 degrees upward so the weight is balanced more. Given the lightweight of the Z, and relatively sturdy chassis, I don't think it will be a problem for the Z. The OP's problem is probably not related to holding the laptop one handed either. -
"You're holding it wrong" is only an excuse for Mac fanbois.
I expect that a $2000+ laptop can be held any way you want it, as long as you don't drop it. If not, the engineers need to go back to the drawing board. -
There's always a tradeoff between cost and weight vs. strength and rigidity. They could always make it out of Titanium and triple the price.

Seems like something else is at play here. I lift mine from the edge all the time, no problem. The CF bottom casing remembers it's shape but the aluminum C surface doesn't and seems to be in charge of keeping the Z's "shape". Perhaps that got tweaked a bit during disassembly?
Anyone else's Z not level?
