Ok I just purchased a $2400 Sony Vaio SZ for college next year. I am worried that it will get stolen. When I purchased the computer, I bought a kensington lock and such but I am still worried. Heres my question:

Is there some kind of tracking device that we could install in the computers so that, if it gets stolen, we could find it?

In my experience, the Kensington lock was worthless in preventing the theft of my last notebook computer. Read this thread.

Well, it's not really a device but a service called LoJack. I have not tried LoJack but maybe someone else on this forum has experience with it.

I take mine with me to college every day. I have personal insurance on it. It is covered for upto $4000 AUD, against theft and accidental damage. Costs me about $120 AUD per year for the insurance. Small price to pay for peace of mind.
