I have a 2.5 year old Z590. I just found this miraculous product. It's a hard drive caddy that can replace your DVD drive. I'd like to stick an SSD in there and thus have 2 drives. Does anyone have any experience doing this? Any gotchas, snags, problems?

Also, are there any physical differences between the Z590 and the Z11-Z13? I assume they use the same body.

    Thanks.

I did it with a generic caddy on Z790. This one may fit even better. Having fast small SSD system drive and big secondary drive is fantastic. But it is relatively hard to disassemble the sony and u may want to check service manual or disassemble instructions posted elsewhere in this forum. In particular, be careful not to damage the keyboard flex cable when removing the keyboard.

Uhh... there IS a difference... and newmodeus is the caddy of choice for the Z11/Z12/Z13 modders on this forum. With that being said, i'd check to see if they have a VGN-Z caddy (the Z11, Z12, Z13 they refer to are VPC-Z's and are a generation after the VGN-Z's)

Thanks. I didn't realize there's a difference between the VPC and VGN. I'll have to find an appropriate caddy for my model somewhere.
