I have the RTM 6000 but will wait till the drivers are updated to use as main operating system (i think it is still buggy to run as main OS for the Vaio) I am running it on my Compaq (my Guinea pig) and I still don't have a lot of the functions available. The 20007 Office enterprise edition on the other hand has been running flawlessly . All our computers now have Office 2007 RTM.

I am, it works great. Now, all we need is SONY's latest software & driver update for Vista.

    fatactxp,
which drivers are you till having issues with?
I know on my Compaq, the sound drivers are really buggy and the network is major issue.
I want to wait to install it on the SZ till it's out to public release, unless all the drivers get updated before then.

i think for the most part, the vista drivers work. we're mainly worried about the on screen control, with the RCs there were no way to adjust the brightness on the SZ

Is there any difference in terms of performance between SZ230 (Coreduo 1.83GHz) and SZ330 (Core2Duo, 2.33GHz) on Vista?

    Hi FatCatXP,

Does the Fn key works for adjusting screen brightness on VISTA RTM???
Which drivers did U used? the one which are for WinXP?

Last time I installed Vista (before RTM release) screen was at its full brightness and it was a pain! If it works now then it would install VISTA RTM soon!

    You response awaited!

    Thanks much!

Battery life under vista is much shorter than under XP. On a typical usage with XP I get over 3.5hours, with vista, barely 2.

The Fn key do not work under RTM (was working for both RC1 and RC2 earlier)
    fingerprint scanner do not work

Everything else works fine. Vista runs quite well, and seem to be much more responsive than XP..

FatCatXP said that he is able to get it work (screen brightness adjustment) under Stamina mode. If so, then it's ok to load Vista!

Screen brightness is the only most painful thing, With full brightness you can't work on it beyond 10-15 minutes. Eyes strain.

hey~Jyavenard, the brightness is still working.

run SODSPI-00445700-US.EXE (Sony® Programmable I/O Control Device Driver Utility)
    run SOASSL-00598801-US.EXE (Sony shared library)
    run SOAVES-01205105-US.EXE (Sony Event Service)
by the way, this is quoted from other thread from Jyavenard.

I know it was a trick I posted here.. Nevertheless, I haven't managed to make it work under Vista RTM...

As for battery life, of course I was using the settings to get better battery life, I still only managed to get about 2 hours

For the life of me I don't know why I can't get the function keys to work with Vista. I'm in stamina mode running RC2 and follow the instructions implicitly yet when I hit the function key and the brightness key or volume key it just doesn't work. Anyone have any ideas why not?

Did you all do an upgrade to Vista or start from scratch with a new install? I'm thinking I may want to just buy a new hard drive and put it on that but keep the old with XP in case I need it. I've got an SZ120P.

fatcatxp, Do Areo effects work in Stamina mode? What is performance like in this mode generally? Do you have all the power options available e.g can you configure speed/screen settings when on the battery and does this use Vaio power management of the Vista version?

I'm running an SZ1 with 2 gig RAM. I was running a dual boot of RC1 fine although problems with drivers (running in speed mode) so am looking foward to installing again today and running in Stamina mode so everything will work!
