    Hi,

I'm wondering if anyone has updated their SZ1/2s to R0092N0. Has the 100% battery charging been solved on this BIOS?

    Cheers,

    sganimefan

Yes, that I know. Unfortunately my SZ is still under warranty and I someone posted that flashing a SZ1/2 with the SZ3 BIOS would void the warranty...

I have the SZ260 P/C and the new bios does solve the 100 battery charging issue. Now it says on Ac power.

Thank you! Let me know how that goes too! :)

EDIT: BTW when are you going to upgrade to R0094N0? I'm curious as to if it's possible to upgrade from R0092N0 to R0094N0. :D

Thanks everyone! I've updated mine too, and I'm glad Sony finally fixed the battery charging issue. I'd tot they didn't care since ver R0083N0 didn't fix it. ~_~

And many thanks Duckfart! It's good to know that I'll be able to update my BIOS to R0094N0 should I ever want to (swop in a C2D, although I doubt it).

I don't see the point of adding a C2D for most folks in the current gen of SZs that have a CD. Sure, it's slightly different, but for most, that extra cache isn't worth much and it's not that much of a speed bump. I'd sooner spend the $ to get more real memory.

I'm going to wait for Santa Rosa which is the real successor. I think it's due out late this year/early next year.

Oh, thanks...would it be advisable for me to upgrade if I only have the battery problem but don't intend to install Vista?

I can't see why not, maybe someone who knows a little more about the Bios can elaborate.
In the end, you can always revert back to the old Bios if something screwy happens with the new Bios.
I have the same Sz Model as you.

I have only tested this Bios (R0094N0) for a few days but have noticed my IE7 froze up a few times forcing me to reboot to kill the window.
If this continues, I will go back to R0092N0(tested that one for a week and had no problems.
