Hey I was just wondering if any of you sony owners use torrent sites. I was a member of the gloried Oink site, until it saw its demise a few months ago.

Does anyone know of the best sites to use and if they are at all comparable to Oink?

    Thanks guys/gals!

very closely = very close to being locked

Read the rules, no form of illegal piracy or illegal file trading allowed on NBR.

Alot of good open source stuff and legal sharing happens on torrent sites. Just because we are discussing torrents doesn't mean we are talking about illegal activity. I hate the prejudice around this place.

That being said, I used to demonoid, but they got temporarily shutdown. I haven't found any site that even compares to the noid.

Can't wait for their return, long live Demonoid.

Right, not that I don't agree. But the OP's original intention was to ask for a site similar to Oink, which was a illegal music sharing torrent site that got shut down for that particular reason. That was the reason for the prejudice.

More bands are voluntarily releasing their music to open source websites like oink every day. This sharing is not illegal. Bands release their stuff to sites like oink because they know that they can reach a vast number of people. It helps new bands to get a start, and the record companies don't like it because they are obviously losing a ton of money because of it. It also allows some off the wall stuff to get distributed, because record companies only sign bands they think will be a big hit.

Newsgroups are MUCH, MUCH beter & faster tho! And 90% of the time, they have stuff on them first!

Amen to that. Private boards also tend to have more seeders. I personally download Linux distros and I downloaded Visual Studios express through torrents. EZ Mode.

Yeah, i guess i am more partial to some of the private sites. Does anyone use or have you heard of any of those? They seem to have stricter quality control and more seeders.

My roommate used to use demoniod until it was shut down.... :-(
