Is it possible to replace the wireless card inside the Vaio SA with one that supports Wi-Max? Specifically, I'm thinking of Intel's 6250 802.11 b/g/n + WiMax card.

I really like the SA, but would love to ditch my CLEAR wimax usb dongle on my new laptop.

    thanks!

Yes, you can. Sony does have SA/SB/SC configs with the Intel 6250 card, and WiMax.

hrmmm...I can't seem to find a SA option for 6250/wimax on sony's website....

it looks like if i replace the 6230 card with the 6250 on my own, i'll lose bluetooth but gain wimax. hrmmmm...

Which is wierd, since my SC had a Foxconn made BT unit (chip was from Broadcom, however), as does my SA.

My SC had the Intel 6250, WiMAX and all.
My SA has the 6205 no WiMAX. I know my SA's BT chip location on the MB, however, since I have disassembled my SA before.

thanks for the info! best i can tell, Sony only offers the 6230 on the current SA3, but it seems like I can buy a 6250 somewhere else and replace the 6230 with it. their dimensions are exactly the same, but very close.
