Hi, I'm thinking about buying an extended battery for my S560. I have not seen the actual one yet (and there's none around here to see as I live in a rural area) I'm wondering how big it is compared to a regular one, and how long the battery lasts in one charge. If anyone has it, please post some pictures of it,so I can see how long it sticks out. And one more thing, you know how the battery wiggles; does it still do that with the extended battery? How bad is it? since you pretty much have to hold the notebook by that battery (I'm afriad it will break off or something). Is it a lot heavier?
PS. I'm hoping that it lasts a lot longer than the standard battery; since I only get 2.5 - 3 hours with wifi on, brighness at 2, and undervolting![]()
Thanks!

I don't have one, but here is a picture:

It will wiggle too, but how much depends on the luck of the draw. -
View, I recently bought a extended battery for my S-580 but instead of buying the BPL-2 from sony i bought a 3rd party replacement from ebay which costed me 1/3 of what sony charges for the BPL-2.
The battery wiggle is about the same as sony BPS-2 which i received with my notebook. It lasts 50% longer than the BPS-2 and sticks out about half an inch. Over all I am happy with my purchase but ofcourse YMMV -
Thank you guys for the inputs.

I have the extended battery for my S560. On average, I get about 2.5 hours out of the standard battery and around 3.5 hours from the extended battery. The best I've ever managed is about 3.0 hours on the standard battery and 4:15 from the extended.
The extended battery adds about half a pound, and wiggles about the same amount as the standard battery. The wiggle can be easily fixed. I'm not comfortable lifting and carrying the notebook by the extended battery, even though it kind of looks like a handle. The tabs holding it in place are small and I don't think they were designed to support the weight of the notebook. -
I get 3:20-3:30 from the standard battery and something not too far from 6 hours from the extended. Yes, I undervolted the CPU running NHC and the screen brightness is set at level 2.

Wow, that's quite impressive. Aside from undervolting, which I haven't tried yet, I think I'd get better life if I could get the hard drive to spin down when I'm not doing anything that requires disk access. Unfortunately, there is some background process running which hits the disk every few seconds so it always runs.

Yes, its probably Windows which is accessing your hard drive for indexing or other purposes. I find it annoying too as the hard drive can be heard in idle mode in a very quiet environment, only if it spins down is the notebook dead silent..

I'm still debating in my head whether to get an extended battery or not
I guess I'll have to go see an actual one and decide (2+ hours drive
)
Anyone using an extended battery for S series please.
