I bought a reinstall disk hoping that the Streets & Trips that came w/my TZ was on it since I did a clean reinstall and got rid of all the "stuff" sony included and it wasn't (unless I just couldn't find it) and I was wondering if I just bought the software for Microsoft Streets & Trips 08 could I use the built in Sprint GPS to get all the features to work? Is it worth it?

I don't think that will work. I believe MS Streets and Trips requires its own GPS receiver. I use it in my truck, 07' version, and have a receiver that plugs into the USB of my VGN-fe880e. I understand the TZ has built in EVDO, but I don't think the Sprint GPS would be compatible with Streets and Trips.

I thought the tz came w/06 streets & Trips and once u activate the Sprint card that is included you have GPS access and I read that the streets & maps works w/it and I was just wondering if 08 also worked w/the built in GPS?

My TZ2000 came with Streets & Trips '06 Essentials, but I can't find the setup files anywhere on the machine. From what I can tell the "Essentials" version has voice navigation disabled, so a full retail version of '08 for under $40 would probably be worth it. I'd imagine that '08 would work w/the Sprint GPS, if it worked in '06 - but can't say for sure.

If it doesn't work, here's a tutorial I found for using the GPS from a Sprint WAN card with Streets & Trips that might be helpful..

    http//www.evdoforums.com/thread4434.html

I couldn't find the GPSModule.exe mentioned in the tutorial, so maybe it's a different configuration with the internal WAN card. Then again, I've never activated my TZ with Sprint, so maybe that would explain the missing app?

    Good luck!

I drive all over the country and Sprint does have some dry spots. And you lose your signal from time to time going from tower to tower. It's much better having a receiver on your dash that plugs in USB. I also have an air card with Sprint but have never tried using it as a GPS device but noticed the instructions in the link provided. Good to know in the event dash device goes out.

I have nav. built into my car anyone, it's more of a cool gadget for me than to really use it in my car.
