    Hi all,

I was hoping someone would be able to provide me with some advice concerning my Vaio please?

I recently replaced the motherboard in my FE11H and have since noticed it becoming very hot when I start demanding tasks such as encoding films etc.

I downloaded Speedfan to monitor the temperature and it shown the processors as 95c!

Any ideas why it is becoming so hot?

    Thanking you in anticipation.

First of all, have you checked that the fans are running?

Other than that, common causes include a CPU that isn't properly attached, or incorrect use of thermal paste. The CPU guard and heatsink should touch as much as possible, metal against metal, and the thermal paste should fill in any gaps where the two doesn't touch. Any more or less than that, and the CPU won't be cooled properly. Especially bad is having a layer of thermal paste so thick that the heatsink floats on it, or one corner of the HSF resting on a piece of debris or otherwise being askew.

    Hi Arth1,

    Thank you for your reply.

I can confirm that the fan is running correctly.

With regards thermal paste....i'm unsure as I never added any extra thermal paste to the replacement board. I am a novice with this. I shall open up the laptop and check the insides.

Thanks for the info - much appreciated :)

Then that is your issue, your CPU along with your GPU isn't able to transfer the heat properly. I'd stop using it straight away until you get it sorted imo.
