my laptop is running hot so i am thinking of placing some artic silver on the cpu... i looked at the guide already but i have one question when you apply the artic silver on the cpu is it only on the top surface of the cpu or do we also place some on the sides of the cpu???

And in the guide it said to place very little artic silver on the heatsink.... am i suppose to cover the entire surface with a thin layer or just a certain area??

You might want to re-read those instructions off the Arctic website, they seem pretty clear. Regardless, you want to use as little compound as possable. Like two grains of rice size chunks at most! DO NOT get it on the sides OR around/on the CPU!!!! NO BuEnO, due to the fact that the AS5 is conductive and may short somthing. Re-read

you apply it to only the metal chip, not the silicone. then you smear a little bit on your heat sink. I wrote a guide on how to do it. it's stickied.
