Are the drivers on Sony's update site really up to date?

I regularly follow http://esupport.sony.com to find updated drivers for my SZ, but I noticed that some drivers available on their specific manufacturers' sites seem to be newer. For instance Intel's driver for their mobile graphics card that the SZ has in it appears to be newer on http://downloadfinder.intel.com than on Sony's own website...

Are the drivers on Sony's site outdated? Or are they e.g. customized and optimized and should always be used instead of the potentially available, theoretically newer drivers from other sites?

(By the way, I also ran DriverDetective; I don't really trust this application, but it showed e.g. an outdated network card driver, for some reason...)
