I am looking to buy this notebook after HELL with Dell's issues. I know sony is more expensive for what i get... but i have to know if there are any issues with this model laptop..

    also..

I'm sure the sony's only have 5400 RPM harddrives, but the dells have 7200 RPM.. I will be encoding music files, would a 7200 RPM really benefit me or is that more for gaming (which i wont be doing)?

how is the sound on the VGN-FZ190 through the headphone jack? any issues?

please respond ASAP i am pressed for time to buy a new laptop.

    thank you!

issues from what I've read are cpu whine, fan wave sounds, heating issues with nvidia gfx, and low quality trackpad buttons, and absolutely atrocious amounts bloatware. Go to your local bestbuy or electronics store (compusa, circuit city) to check it out for yourself, might as well, its at every major electronics retailer i've seen

people do like the screens, looks, weight, and horsepower

The "issues" have only been reported by a few folks. Others, including myself, have not seen ANY of them manifested on our FZ190's. I am not saying the issues don't exist, but just that they are not pervasive.

Left side of PC can get quite hot after intense use (such as playing Blue-Ray) - I saw this happens at the store. Keyboard, much like many recent Sony models, are rather...."different", which some people dislike. The most notable would be bloatwares and the lack of recovery discs...That is about all I can gather - I don't actually own this. :)

If you don't own one, then you wouldn't know that recovery disks actually DO exist on a separate partition on the hard drive and the machine actually comes with a utility for burning a pair of recovery DVD's using the image stored on the partition.
