You can disable it, but also will not show the bars... Well...if it's worth it to you to keep that beep quiet at the expense of not being able to see the progress bar pop up:
start
type msconfig
startup tab
uncheck VAIOmymemcetner
apply
restart
No more beeps! and one less process to run!![]()

I just changed the pi.wav file in C:\Program Files\Sony\VAIO Event Service to a nicer sound. I like the auditory/visual feedback.
-
you can just delete the pi.wav file and the sound will be gone.
-
or you can just mute the "VAIO Event Service" in the volume mixer
-
lol nice!
thanks i never noticed that! much better..plus visual feedback. -
Thanks for all the tricks.
I like the Volume Mixer one. -

Where are you seeing "VAIO Event Service" individually listed in the volume mixer? (see attachment)

I have a realtek card in my SR... i dont know if that makes a difference..
-
My SR has Realtek too. I never noticed anything in the volume mixer. Personally I like the beep, but with headphones it gets pretty loud!
I'm hoping that all SR's are Realtek, otherwise potential sound quality difference... -
did you make a clean install?

Without a quote, we have no idea to whome you are addressing your question.
Gary -
I have VAIO Event Service in my Z with Realtek.
Check is your Event Service started. -

If the Event Service was not started the function keys for brightness and volume control would not be functional at all. So I am sure it is running.
Gary
Are you annoyed of the BEEP of Volume or Brightness changing?
