You can disable it, but also will not show the bars... Well...if it's worth it to you to keep that beep quiet at the expense of not being able to see the progress bar pop up:
start
type msconfig
startup tab
uncheck VAIOmymemcetner
apply
restart
No more beeps! and one less process to run!![]()

I just changed the pi.wav file in C:\Program Files\Sony\VAIO Event Service to a nicer sound. I like the auditory/visual feedback.
-
you can just delete the pi.wav file and the sound will be gone.
-
or you can just mute the "VAIO Event Service" in the volume mixer
-
thanks i never noticed that! much better..plus visual feedback. -
Thanks for all the tricks.
I like the Volume Mixer one. -

My SR has Realtek too. I never noticed anything in the volume mixer. Personally I like the beep, but with headphones it gets pretty loud!
I'm hoping that all SR's are Realtek, otherwise potential sound quality difference... -
did you make a clean install?

Are you annoyed of the BEEP of Volume or Brightness changing?
