I debating between ordering the Area-51 m5750 or the sony Sony VIAO VGN-AR230G. I know the ATI 1800 is more powerfull than the NVIDIA GeForce Go 7600GT(right?). My remaining concern is the quality of the screen and the brightness compared to the Sony VIAO. The AR series for Sony have a brilliant display. However I never saw an Alienware computer in person. Another concern is rubbing off the glossy finish with my palms on the m5750. I will do a fair amount of typing on it.
I'm not a hardcore gamer but I will do some. Any comments regarding my concern will be appreciated.
    Thanks!

Look at the reviews for Alienware and their customer support. It isn't glowing.

Don't cross post in two forums, we don't allow that, thanks.
Your palms shouldn't be hitting the 'palmrest' on the notebook - definitely look up the proper typing style and don't make the same mistake I did.

Sony makes some of the best notebook screens. The Alienware won't top it there, but it still has a good screen. Consider completing the FAQ in the What Should I Buy forum so we can help you better.

I called Alienware and I asked them to compare the screen to another manufacture, and the guy said is was similar to a Dell. Aren't Dells on the low end in terms of screen quality and brightness? I really wish there was someway to check it out in person before taking the $3500 dive.

If it is true that the Alienware screens are akin to the Dells, and Alienware actually admits this, I would really suggest you see one before you buy. I've been through a few Dells, and never got 1 with a good screen.

I think I remember seeing a few posts at one time that Alienware wasn't the easiest when it comes to returning notebooks just because you aren't satisfied, I could be wrong. Make sure to check into it if you go that route.

I went from an M1710 to an AR150 and there is a considerable difference in screen quality. No complaints with the Sony really.

Alienware hmmmm.A helpfull hint:::::::If you buy there pc make sure you get a great tool kit to take it apart to fix it yourself when needed. There teck support will guide you through the process.Dont make a mistake or you eat the cost.Alienware on a scale of 1-10 gets a 1
.......Bottom line>>>>> stay away from a lemon of a company called alienware or you will regret it with lack of solid build and ofcourse customer service/teck support
    Good luck
