    Hello,

I have a sony vaio VGN-S58GP. It was working perfectly until yesterday the audio jack stopped working properly.

basically i'd connect some earphones or an external speakers, and the laptop acts as if i hadn't connected anything and continues to immit its sound through the built in speakers. Although, the earphones connected does pick up a part of the sound that's playing (ie. both built-in speaker and whatever connect play the sound) but it's really limited-literately partial.

i've checked vaio support sites but i can't seem to find any solution. So i'm hoping someone here would help.

    thanks!

It sounds to me like the line out connection to your motherboard has shorted. This is a technical issue and needs to be dealt with through Sony - they will repair or replace your motherboard.
