Is there anything that can be done to get better audio out of this notebook? I compare it with my Sennheiser headphones vs. an Alienware M14x and the difference is 100x. I get that the speakers on this thin notebook are cheap (the M14x has very good speakers) but I'm plugging in headphones... the audio has such less punch and overall sound quality it's depressing.

Potential alternatives to analog audio out port are USB audio and Express Card audio.

I think the Sennheiser noise cancelling earplugs that came with my Z1 sound pretty good. Try turning off the noise cancellation - maybe that's 'dumbing down' the sound too much for you.

Also, give SRS HD Audio Lab a shot. There is a lesser version of this built into WMP (under enhancements) but the full version is better, IMO. Winamp also has a similar plugin.
