I've seen other people mention this issue, but I can't find a resolution. Running my FW290 with an ATI 3650 through my AVR (Onkyo TX-SR706), I get video, but no audio - audio stays with the computer. I have no audio issues running the computer through HDMI directly to my TV (except at times I've had to switch the default playback device to HDMI). That option is not available here as the computer is not showing any HDMI output.

Anyone have a resolution or suggestion to this issue?

That particular unit is designed to pass both audio and video through the system directly to the TV, but remember that not only do you need to set audio output from your computer in the Sound Options, but some TV's also need to be set for HDMI input, both audio and video, depending on the unit.

The computer doesn't have to show HDMI out - select the Digital Output Device in Vista Sound Options, even if it says SPDIF. SPDIF was the label on some of the older drivers on some systems, but it makes no difference as that's how you route the sound out.

Your post is somewhat confusing as you say you can pass A/V through the HDMI to your TV without the AVR, but with the AVR in place the computer doesn't show HDMI out. What did it show before hooking to the AVR then, or are you talking about a different system? Your Sound output options shouldn't change at all when you connect an HDMI cable to any external device.

The first image is what I get when I run the computer through my AVR, the second, when run direct to the TV. Audio is passed through to the TV, obviously, as you can see, but not through my AVR.
