I have a brand new vaio z and I can't seem to figure out how to disable the trackpad when I have an external mouse connected.

Is there any way out of the box?

I read something about the dell alps drivers but havent found any solid info yet. is that the only way?

uhh... okay... right click the synaptics icon (the red one with a white circlely shape) in the tool bar then click Pointing Device Properties then click on the Device Settings Tab, make sure the Synaptics TouchPad VX.X is highlighted (it should be) then click DISABLE, press OK at the prompt, then exit. done.... and do it all again to enable. I wish i could write a macro for that and assign it to the Vaio Key or the middle key between the Vaio and Assist keys... :(
