I found an ad that was showing this unbelievable deal (at least to me it was) while researching for my work project.
You can get one of these two bundles FREE of charge (i chose the Docking Station bundle):
* Docking Station
* Wireless Bluetooth® Mouse6
* Stick AC adapter
Or
* Additional standard capacity battery
* Carrying case
* Stick AC adapter
The offer is only for Z / SR / BZ and the laptop must be purchased during 10/1/2008 to 12/31/2008. Here is the link: (edited) Seems like I can't provide external links yet. But you can easily find it by searching VAIO PRODUCTIVITY BUNDLE on google or live.com, it will be the first result.
I have just sent in my rebate form last week, so hopefully I can get the stuff by end of this year.
Hope everyone can take advantage of this cool offer from Sony.

PDF of what exactly you get in the Productivity or Mobility bundle, whichever one you pick.

A bit of information about the rebate.

Now I remember there was a large terms and conditions page for this promotion but it seems to have been removed. Some people have said this offer is not valid if you buy from SonyStyle, only if you buy from Sony's business site or resellers like CDW and Newegg, has this been confirmed?
If I buy a Z, I'd like to get it from SonyStyle because of a 10% student discount they offer and to customize it with the premium carbon finish without buying a very expensive pre-configured model. But it looks like if I go that option, I have to sacrifice the bundle.
It looks like its either a CTO Z or the Productivity/Mobility bundle, can't have both right? -
Does this deal work in Canada or is it one of those US only deals?
-
There is another thread here with some more details.
-
Corresponded with Sony rep. and purchased my Z from Portable One. He emailed me that I would qualify for the rebate and I have sent the docs in. Hope it filled.
-
Sorry... -

Has anyone actually got their goods yet?
-
Not yet. I mailed my rebate and info on 10/14/08. I just checked my rebate status online and it shows: "Received, Submission is being processed".
-
Sony is very good with their promise rebate so I def will do this if I can.
-
I'm sorry to ask the stupid question, but are you eligible if you buy from SonyStyle.com? Or only other dealers?
I'm definitely buying from SonyStyle because I can use the 10% student discount, but ... shoot, if I qualify you'd better believe I'll fill out for the rebate deal. -
I don't know if its confirmed, but it looks as though SonyStyle is not eligible for the rebate. Has it been 100% confirmed? I know its valid for authorized resellers like Newegg, CDW, PortableOne and Sony's own Business site.
It looks like you have to make a sacrifice, either the 10% discount or the rebate on the bundles. -
-
To everyone:
I called up the Sony Rebate support and they said the rebate is valid for any Z purchased. Whether it is an "authorized dealer" or not.
Just to make certain I called them up again, to get a different representative, and I got the same answer. -
That's Great! Then I can use the student account and get the rebate as well!
thx~ -
On the other hand, maybe someone can be the guinea pig & try it out by sending the rebate, then let us know the answer! -
-
Well I suppose I will be that guinea pig as I am forging ahead.
-
-
I'm very still skeptical of this rebate working with SonyStyle, those representatives may have been confused on the topic discussed. This rebate doesn't seem to apply to consumers, only businesses as its only advertised on the business section of Sony's site, nothing of this at all is mentioned on SonyStyle.
But if true, a CTO Z590 with the Premium Carbon lid, 10% student discount and free Mobility Bundle sounds lovely. -
-
UPDATE - I mailed the rebate on 10/14/08 (post-mark). I checked the online status and it now shows that the mobility pack was shipped UPS. So....it worked! I purchased my SB140 through MicroCenter. Listed myself as a business on the pre-qualification site, printed and mailed my info and now it's showing as shipped. What a great rebate!!!
-
On another note: Should I return my Macbook Pro & purchase a Vaio Z? -
what is microcenter??
-
-
gotcha...for some reason this thread had me thinking it was an offshoot of sonystyle...
-
Combine this promotion with the Trade Up and Go Pro 4 trade in program and you'll be a happy camper!

Sorry, I meant SR140.
-
-
Sujan is correct. From the T/C's Sonystyle doesn't qualify.
-
For all US shoppers:
Credit to qaz333 for posting this link elsewhere, I thought I'd bring it over here for everyone to see:
http://www.techbargains.com/news_displayItem.cfm/142520
Coupon codes for 250 off the Z540 and 300 off the Z590.
Enjoy. -
unfortunately that Z590 coupon only applies to their $3700 prebuilt model
-
So it is... but the 540 coupon is for CTOs.
A lot of people prefer the lower res... so that's probably an even better bonus for them.
...Now why can't we in Canada get the option to choose between screen resolutions and some discounts too. >_> -
-
I got my extra battery, travel charger and a bag for my Z today. The rebate was quick! Took only 1 month turn around.
I plan to sell it on fleabay and get some money back. -
do you need to have a business to receive the rebate?
-
Nope. Just a customer!

What if i bought my Vaio Z outside the U.S. but still have an address inside the U.S.?
Am i qualified for the the Rebate?Because the T&C doesn't say you have to buy it in the U.S. -

Mailing Address Questions
Q: I purchased the product in the US, but I do not have a US address. Will my rebate or award be mailed to me outside the US?
A: To receive a Sony rebate or award, we require a mailing address in the 50 United States, excluding territories. We cannot mail to addresses outside the US.
Q: I do not have a street address, but I have a PO box. Can I still qualify for the promotion?
A: Contact the USPS to confirm the street address that corresponds to your PO box and include it along with your PO box when you send your submission. PO boxes are only acceptable when accompanied by a corresponding street address.

but it was the other way round
I didnt buy it in the U.S. but have an address in the U.S. -
does this work with CTO configurations for the z series? i.e. vgn-z590cto?
-
well considering the z590 CTO is part of the Z series, i would have to go out on a limb and say that YES it does work!!!! kinda makes sense, doesn't it?
-
well its not listed in the drop down for model numbers so i was unsure.
