    Just an FYI:
I have a FE550. Today, I updated the Wireless NIC drivers from Sony's website. I also downloaded the BIOS firmware update (R0070J3). Flash process worked successfully. However - after reboot, I attempted to enter BIOS setup and was presented a "One Time Password" box. Spent an hour or so on the phone with Sony support. Was eventually forwarded to a Senior Technician. They seemed to think that the issue is with my Vaio and not the Flash code. Unfortunately, Sony doesn't post the original/shipping verson so I cannot restore to the Factory R0050J3 release. I suggested (strongly) that they (Sony) pull the BIOS FLash update from the VAIO website. I haven't gotten a final resolution - someone is supposed to contact me. The Senior tech informed me that the "One Time Password" was discontinued on Sony notebooks back in 2004 (?). My unit worked fine with it's original Flash, so I don't subscribe to their (Sony's) analysis that the problem lies with my particular unit.

Anyway, I'm hoping Sony posts an updated BIOS flash that will correct this issue, as I don't look forward to shipping the VAIO back to California to have the BIOS re-worked. So just be aware that updating to this new Flash may prevent you from accessing BIOS setup.

The BIOS Flash update in question was posted on 03/08/2006 and appears as the 2nd entry in the "Updated" driver section on the website.
