get that **** at newegg
screw no widescreen, widescreen for life -
ASG,
Do yourself a favor and save some money. Get 256MB and order two stick of memory at newegg.com 100GB HDD from sony or newegg is at similar price. But the RAM is definitely overpriced.
mhx,
Are you looking for widescreen? Or does it really matter to you? If it does, you can check out z60t. I currently have BX and z60t on the way. But after I found out Sony offering x700 w/ SXGA, I will return the current BX I have and get the SXGA version..
I will give up z60t more likely due to extremely long wait of the shipment.... Sony BX seemed to be a better choice for me. It is a very highend notebook. Except battery(size and life), standard screen size, and keyboard, everything else are better than z60t. -
definitely cancel your order and get only 256mb RAM u paid WAY too much for it.
buy RAM from other seller (newegg for example) even Fry's is now having a BIG sale on 1GB 533 notebook ram for 69.99$ (it ends today tuesday 2oth Dec) -
rz8168,
yah a widescreen is a must for me. im still undecided on my next laptop. I ulmost want to get a sony tx, but on the other hand i kinda want to play games like quake 4.. so the dv4000, asus Z70va are all in the line up.. i cant decide.
biggest things for me are hd, ddr2 memory, widescreen max size of 15.4 min 11.1... i just dont know i cant find one notebook that does it allthats small
-
dam that ibm is 7lb for the 15.4 too heavy for me
trying to stick around 6lb for a 15.4 -
The z60T only has the Intel GMA 900, That is a HUGE step down from the X700. Yes it's widescreen, but it will have problems powering PacMan! I would love to get widescreen, but this BX has everything else I'm looking for, so I think it's time for a compromise... Now I have to find out if they're available in Canada...!

thats kinda I guess what I was pointing out - the specs vs price seem pretty ridiculous - especially with the poor battery life some have reported
as importantly I was pinting out that Sony is finally, after months of promises and false starts - indicating actual projected ship dates
interestingly the preconfigured model with the bettter screen and X700 is shown as not available on their main BX page - appears you can only get one by "customizing"
I've been buying Sony Notebooks for years - currently a Z1vap - but think I'm done - seems that every piece they release anymore is a compromise - the BX yet another example it seems - who wants a notebook with lousy batt life when 3 to 5 hours is possible
the FJ is a good example - after creating the otherwise pretty great FS but shortchanging by not offering a decent graphics option - and after seeing the discussion about same in the S series - they bring out the perfect form factor - 14 widescreen, thin and light - and then again ignore a decent graphics card
better yet do the FJ, with a 15.4 wide screen and add an x700 - keep it in the mid 5lb range - and they'd sell a boatload
Asus looks better every day - at least they seem to try and build what customers are looking for ..... -
i have to say that sony tx looks pimp.. But i think its under powered. it should come with a 1.6-1.7cpu. and a faster hd. thats the only things keeping me from getting that sexy ultra port.

I like the new BX I bought a week ago, but deciding to stick with my dell m70, so if anyone wants to save several hundred dollars on a newer laptop, check out ebay item#6833277299, paid 2600.00, put it up for sale for 2099.00
-
Jason, why do you want to sell it? Can't you return it? I'm returning mine. By the way I just got z60t, you can check out my z60t review here. Not a good review though. If my z60t closed properly, I would've keep it. But now I am returning both BX540 and Z60T. I'm now considering BX with x700. I'm don't really relies on battery that much. Wherever I travel to, there's always a power outlet for me.
Widescreen would be better option but SXGA is good enough. What I really want is a trackpoint in middle of keyboard, with Fingerprint and TPM integrated. -
I just called where i bought it from costcentral.com and they have a no return policy on opened items, I just felt I needed a smaller laptop for the road, it is a very nice machine though, shoot i even lowered the price on my auction to 1999.00

It Was A Typo, I Just Edited It To 1999.00
