I was about to buy the FS 740 but guess I should hold out for this one. Any idea when this will be released? Are we thinking the battery life will be better? Thanks.

You can buy a preconfigured model from CDW or by calling Sony B2B. For the SXGA+ and X700 video cards, you're going to have to wait for an undeterminable time. ATI is having supply issues, and Sony is left at the starting gate. I've been calling up sony since mid-September and everytime I call I get "We don't know, try back in 2 weeks." However, they've had that "mid-November" thing up for awhile, so who knows, maybe it will be out in the last quoted "two weeks."

Yes - I too have heard mid-end November...it has to come out some time. I think it will be worth the wait.

I'd expect it to have 3-4 hours of battery life, considering that it has a 14" screen and a Pentium M.

Yes, but Sony will have, in addition to the 14.1, a 15.4" Widescreen and a 17" Widescreen. I'm glad Sony is doing that - the BX is an excellent design!
