I received BX540 14" today. I'm somewhat disappointed with the keyboard quality. It feels cheap and sounds noisy during typing. Screen is good but not excellent. Exterior body is ok, better if slimmer. It looks somewhat bulky because of 1.4 height. Resolution could be better if available.
Pros:
Good screen - glossy, brightness is ok
Finger print reader
Built-in Camera
Pointstick pointing device
SD and MS media reader
Bluetooth
Quiet besides key typing noise which was very loud to me
Overall good looking laptop from a distance
Cons:
Cheap, weak, noisy keyboard
Not sturdy and strong build compared to HP nc6230
1.4 inch height of thickness.
Looks bulky
Screen resolution could be better
Heat
Battery a bit loosen
Battey is bulky and ugly
Battery life is above average

Hi rz8168, I'm very excited waiting for the BX series as well and so I have a few questions I would like you to answer for me.
1) When you seay "heat", what do you mean ? Like extremely hot compared to S series ?
2) Could you ellaborate more on the battery life ? Like how many hours did you get doing what ?
3) You say you have the 14" model, I didn't know it came with the built-in camera.. does it ?
4) How about the build quality. It is magnesium or does it plastic ?
thanks! -
1) Heat was comparable to S series, so far it was affected when AC power plugged
2) Battery life was about 2 hour
3) There's an option when you customize the 14" screen version
4) According to Sony, it is magnesium casing. But most magnesium casing feels like plastic. So far BX build quality is excellent
Now, one more disappointment I have to make that is the battery size. First I thought I ordered extended battery but after I checked out my order detail. I ordered standard one and its size is really bulky. At least it is sticking out of bottom of the machine and looks really ugly. The battery is a little bit loosen, and just a little bit tighter than s580. My friend has a compaq 14" nc6230 business notebook, his notebook is about half the thickness of my BX. My BX looks better but weight heavier.
