I've seen this on the black screen during bootup. On White or Blue screens in Vista i don't see it...but i'm very unhappy. :(

well, guys, I've got a 13 months old Vaio SZ1/MB.
and I've noticed 1 blue pixel that sit's there since at least it was 6 months old.

the warranty should give you a new screen or even laptop if you complain as it's very often a manufacturers problem.

    good luck to you all.

Stuck pixels are a side effect of the procuction of LCDs. If you'd throw every single one away that does not have a perfect screen LCDs would be insanely expensive. That said, stuck pixels are either there when you buy it or not. Stuck pixels DO NOT apear over time. You may just notice them 10month into using you laptop but they've been there since the screen was produces. I worked for Sharps LCD-TV business once and we never ever had a single display accumulate stuck pixel over time. That is a myth!

Yes, if you press real hard it will damage the screen.

    I MUST disagree.

Unfortunately, I do have a SZ340 proving that pixels CAN die, even if you get a perfect screen when buy it.
I don't have any doubt that I got a perfect screen. When I purchase my Vaio, about 6 months ago, I made a detailed search for dead pixels with the help of dead pixel buddy and a magnifying glass. Last month I saw the first black pixel when typing in M$ Word.

Even if I didn't has made the detailed search for dead pixels like I did, the fact is I use M$ Word every day, for hours and is impossible not notice the black pixel when typing. So, this pixel "died" about one month ago, no doubt about.

After this, I start to play even more attention on pixels. That time I'm sure about have only one dead pixel. Over this month have appeared other 4 black pixels, spread on the panel.

So, stuck pixels DO appear over time! It's important say that my Vaio is well cared, I use a good case and never let any pressure over it.

    Regards.

yah no offense but if that were true, why would so many resellers offer a extended zero dead pixel warranty?

every manufacturer already comes with a atleast 30 day warranty for dead pixels so if that were true, that is all you need because its either there or not?

dead pixels can defintely happen over time, thankfully, in my 2 weeks of using this laptop, no dead pixels :) meaning i must be safe for the next ten years!

I had a stuck pixel once.
    I massaged it out! :D

Turn the laptop off, and take a soft towel.
Then use the towel and rub the area of the stuck pixel with some pressure.
    But be careful!
I was able to get rid of one stuck green pixel this way.
Remember, be careful - no guarantee it works and I don't want to be responsible for you damagaing your laptop.

I have been pretty lucky I guess, I have had 6 lcd monitors and tvs over the past 7 years including 3 notebooks.Out of all of them only one had a stuck pixel, which was on the screen when I bought it and none of them had a single dead pixel.I have tested all of them with dead pixel buddy or equivalent software over the years ).Not including my piece of crap psp, I had to go through about 6 of them before I found one with no dead or stuck pixels, they usually had about three or four stuck pixels each.

No, the actual backlight has nothing to do with the transistors of a LC-Display.
